Its history, spectacular course and the incredible atmosphere throughout the Basque Country make it a truly unique event. Every year, the number of athletes wanting to race far exceeds the available entries, making this victory even more meaningful to me.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55297\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-47-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55297\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55295\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-45-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55295\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55294\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-44-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55294\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>An Intense Race from Start to Finish<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The day began with a 3 km swim across the Atlantic Ocean, from Getaria to Zarautz. Navigation is a real challenge on this course, and the waves make the final stretch particularly technical. I exited the water in third place, ready to chase down the leaders.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The 80 km bike course, featuring nearly 1,000 metres of elevation gain, suited my strengths perfectly. Within the first few kilometres, I caught the two leaders before taking control of the race. The steep climbs, technical descents and especially the famous climb with gradients exceeding 20% made this section both spectacular and incredibly demanding.   <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-2 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55298\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-46-1-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55298\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55299\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-48-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55299\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"680\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55300\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-A-49-680x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55300\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started the half marathon with a lead of almost nine minutes. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Despite temperatures climbing above 34\u00b0C (93\u00b0F), I found a strong rhythm right from the beginning. Carried by the incredible atmosphere and the thousands of spectators lining the course, I truly enjoyed every kilometre on these unique Basque roads.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I crossed the finish line in 4:18:31, winning by almost 15 minutes and recording the fastest women&#8217;s half marathon split of the day in 1:17:38. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>A Victory I&#8217;ll Never Forget<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-3 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"896\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55302\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-2-D-3-896x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55302\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"896\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55301\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-1-D-3-896x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55301\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"896\" height=\"1024\" data-id=\"55303\" src=\"https:\/\/alanissiffert.ch\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/frame-3-D-3-896x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-55303\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Beyond the result itself, this day will remain unforgettable for another reason. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I had the privilege of sharing this victory with my entire family, especially my grandparents, who were celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary. Having them there to support me and being able to experience this special moment together made the victory even more meaningful.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A huge thank you to my family, my friends, my partners, everyone who supports me every day, and especially to my coach, Brett Sutton.
